Stair Lift Rentals
In certain circumstances it may be more appropriate to rent a stairlift than it is to buy a new or reconditioned stairlift. Unfortunately, rental stairlifts are only available for straight staircases and not curved staircases due to the cost of a curved stairlift track being too high.
Generally there are two situations where a rental stairlift would be appropriate:
1) If you or a loved one/relative have suffered an injury, such as a broken leg, that will take a few months to heal.
2) If as is sometimes sadly the case, you or a loved one is terminally ill, and want to be able to spend the last few months in your own home rather than a care home.
How much do rental stairlifts cost? This can vary from company to company but typically you would have to pay for between 3 and 6 months rental upfront. You should expect to pay around £400-500 for 3 months rental plus another £10-20 for every week after that.
One advantage of the rental stair lift option is that the price covers the removal of the stairlift when no longer needed.
Are rental stairlifts good value? If you will be needing the stairlift for 3 months or less then they are good value. However, if you are unsure about how long you will need the stairlift or think you will need to rent a stairlift for more than 3 months then you may be better off buying a reconditioned or used stairlift.
It is worth remembering that some stairlift companies will buy back your stairlift of you. If you take this into consideration then there is not a huge difference in price between buying a reconditioned stairlift or renting a stairlift for 5 or more months. In addition, our approved stairlift suppliers can offer finance options where you can spread the cost of the stairlift over a year so you don't have to pay the full amount in one go.
It is also worth bearing in mind that it is unlikely that you will know exactly how long you will need the stairlift for at the outset, and you could end up needing the stairlift for longer than you planned.
